ADAC vs. guests: huge gap in campsite ratings
Original source: DerWesten.de

In Brief

PiNCAMP analysis shows 64% of users give campsites 5 stars, while ADAC experts give only 13%. Experts assess quality by 200 criteria, guests express subjective satisfaction.

An analysis by the PiNCAMP portal (ADAC) based on data from nearly 15,000 European campsites has revealed a significant discrepancy between ADAC ratings and guest reviews.

According to the ADAC classification, 77% of campsites receive 3 or 4 stars, while 64% of guests give the highest rating of 5 stars. Only 13% of campsites are awarded 5 stars by ADAC. ADAC experts assess objective quality and equipment according to 200 criteria, while guests express subjective satisfaction with their stay.

ADAC recommends combining both types of ratings: first filter by ADAC stars to meet equipment requirements, then read reviews to gauge the atmosphere.
