In the late 1960s, Argentina developed La Boyita, an amphibious RV that could travel on both land and water. Designed by engineer Jorge Berichit, it was produced from 1969 to 1980, with around 1,500 units built. Its fiberglass-reinforced plastic hull provided buoyancy and allowed for an outboard motor of 5–15 hp. Weighing only 350 kg, it could be towed by popular cars of the era. Unlike modern Chinese amphibious SUVs like the Yangwang U8, La Boyita was designed for recreational use rather than emergency situations.
