Poland is set to amend its e-TOLL system, exempting private trailers – including caravans, flatbed trailers and boat trailers – from mandatory toll payments. Currently, a car towing a trailer with a combined gross vehicle weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes is classified as a heavy goods vehicle and must register with e-TOLL. The new law, already submitted to the president, will remove private combinations from this requirement. Savings for drivers could reach several hundred zlotys for a round trip across Poland, and in some cases approach 1,000 zlotys. The exemption applies to national roads managed by GDDKiA, but not to concession motorways. The law could take effect 60 days after signing, possibly before the end of the summer holidays.
