On April 19, 2026, police in Scharbeutz offered free weighing for motorhomes and caravans. Of 85 vehicles checked, nine had minor overloads, but none were banned from driving. Similar events took place in Elmshorn and Hamburg.
Police in Scharbeutz (Ostholstein district) held a free weighing campaign for motorhomes and caravans on April 19, 2026. The event ran from 10:00 to 15:00 at Breitenkamp 127. Its aim was to inform owners about the dangers of overloading and improper weight distribution, and to provide advice on driving licenses, axle loads, and gas cylinder safety.
Of the 85 vehicles checked, nine had minor excess weight. However, none were so overloaded that further travel was prohibited.
Earlier, in early March 2026, similar campaigns took place in Elmshorn and Hamburg. Hamburg police resumed weighing at two truck weighing stations on the A24 motorway, timed to the start of the camping season.
