Camper Kagoshima unveils two Toyota Hiace campers: BANKONG and LAMP&

Polish manufacturer Niewiadow, commissioned by Indiana RV, has produced the compact trailer Lazur 300 Japan. The model features a square body, interior height of 185 cm and length of 295 cm, and sleeps 3–4 people. Its curb weight of 630 kg allows towing with a compact SUV without a special license. Price starts at 3,399,000 yen.

Japanese retailer Cainz has launched magnetic sunshade curtains for car windows. The curtains attach to metal door frames via magnets, offering light blocking and UV protection. A two-pack costs 980 yen (small) or 1280 yen (large). The product is aimed at drivers and campers seeking quick privacy and heat reduction.

The largest motorhome event in northeastern Japan, the Tohoku Camping Car Fair 2026, will take place on October 10–11, 2026, at Yume Messe Miyagi in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. The fair will feature light campers, cab-over conversions, and camper vans. Admission: advance tickets 800 yen, door tickets 1,000 yen; junior high school students and younger free.

The owner of a Mitsubishi Delica D:3 repainted the vehicle in Urban Khaki and installed a bed. For storing surfboards and fishing rods, he used holders from a 100-yen store. The vehicle serves as a base for surfing and fishing on Awaji Island.

In Kamisu, Ibaraki Prefecture, operator Tōken runs two RV parks: RV Park Water Garden Resort Camp & Marina and the newly opened (May) RV Park Hikkawa Beach. The latter features a 20×10 m camping pitch, the largest in the chain. All pitches have 20 A electricity; showers and toilets are available. Rates range from ¥2,200 to ¥6,600 per night plus ¥550 cleaning fee.

Hirosaki University held an evacuation drill on July 18 simulating a disaster during extreme heat, with toilets and water unavailable. For the first time, the drill included car sleeping as an evacuation method. About 90 participants, including municipal staff and students, set up shelters and spent the night either in a gym or in vehicles. Professor Kazuhiko Handzawa of Niigata University warned of the risk of economy class syndrome from car sleeping and recommended frequent exercise, hydration, and compression stockings.
