About 150 caravans of a French evangelical church have illegally settled on a meadow in Fischach, Bavaria, since Friday evening. The site is in a landscape protection and flood zone, without sewage or electricity. The municipality is seeking alternatives, but the nearby festival ground is too small. An ultimatum until Monday was ignored; fines are being prepared and eviction is considered difficult due to many families and children.
Forster has unveiled the A 699 DVB, a coachbuilt motorhome offering up to eight sleeping berths in a length of just under seven metres. It is based on the Ford Transit with a 165 hp turbodiesel and automatic transmission. Prices start at €58,900.
Volkswagen has introduced a new off-grid power system for its Grand California camper. The 600 and 680 models, based on the Crafter van, can now be equipped with two 40 Ah lithium iron phosphate batteries and roof-mounted solar panels (104 W for the 600, 174 W for the 680). According to the manufacturer, the usable capacity of the new battery is about 40% higher than the previous AGM, and its service life is roughly five times longer. The system is designed to extend the time spent without external power.
Tanja Jani, a 45-year-old resident of Aalen, died on July 1 after a long battle with cancer. She and her husband Heiko lived in a dilapidated caravan while facing financial hardship. A fundraising campaign raised 23,000 euros.
