Bristol City Council plans to create a ‘meanwhile site’ for caravans on a former railway line in Brislington, arguing it is safer than building a cycle path. Up to 30 pitches with water and toilets could be installed on the stretch between Sainsbury’s and Tesco. Council officials say permanent occupation and fencing will provide natural surveillance and security, unlike the proposed cycle path previously described as ‘dark and inaccessible’.
