Lawson expands car overnight parking service to 28 stores

Japanese convenience store chain Lawson will expand its overnight car parking service to 27 locations across four prefectures starting July 17, 2026. The fee for one parking space per night is 2500–3000 yen, including power cable rental and disposal of one bag of trash. The service requires advance reservation and is limited to one vehicle per store per day.

Lawson, in cooperation with Glory and the Japan RV Association, is expanding its 'Convenience RV Park' pilot project for overnight stays in vehicles. From July 17, 2026, the service will be available at 28 stores in Saitama, Shizuoka and Aichi prefectures, including existing locations in Chiba Prefecture. The pilot began in July 2025 with 7 stores in Chiba, driven by growing demand for car sleeping due to changing travel habits and rising accommodation costs. Lawson leverages 24-hour store convenience, staff presence for safety, and efficient parking lot use.
