Camper Park in Preetz: A Relaxing Spot Near Hamburg

On the evening of May 29 or 30, 2026, a major fire broke out in Burscheid (North Rhine-Westphalia), starting from a car fire. Several caravans, motorhomes, and cars were destroyed, and gas cylinders exploded. Two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion.

A motorhome overturned on the A2 motorway near Burg, Saxony-Anhalt. The 64-year-old driver and his 63-year-old passenger, both Dutch nationals, sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Nearly 100,000 campers voted in a Eurocamping portal survey to determine Europe's top campsites. Two Bavarian sites — Arterhof (Best Campsites category) and Marktler Badesee (Small & Fine category) — were among the winners. A total of 36 campsites across Europe received awards, including locations in Norway, Spain, and Sweden.
