Vanlife market in France
As of mid-2026, France has 650,000 registered motorhomes, campers and vans. From May 2025 to May 2026, 95,000 such vehicles were registered, including 27,300 new ones — the second-best figure after 2021. The average price of a new motorhome is at least €55,000, making them mainly affordable for people over 55, but more and more people in their 30s and 40s are buying campers or converting vans.
Regional initiatives
Around Vannes and Auray (Brittany), about ten companies offer conversion and rental services for motorhomes, vans and mini-caravans. In Muzillac, Sylvain Noblet recently launched Bevan Dudi, a mini-caravan rental company.
Innovation: Concept 6.10 catamaran
Guillaume Turbec from Vendée spent 15 months (3,000 hours) building in his garage the Concept 6.10 catamaran with a pop-up roof like a camper. The 6.10 m vessel weighs about 500 kg, is towable on a trailer, and features a kitchen, shower, chemical toilet and a 2×2 m sleeping area. It sails, rows or runs on an electric motor powered by solar panels, and is designed for up to three days of autonomous living. Turbec has filed patent applications and plans to sell DIY kits and ready-made models, as well as create a Wildkat owners' community.
Fair in Saint-Polien
In late February 2026, the third motorhome fair took place in Saint-Polien, the first after a six-year break caused by the pandemic. Organisers presented new models of motorhomes, campers and caravans, as well as travel accessories. Most visitors were older and considering a purchase for retirement.
