The Socialist Municipal Group has secured unanimous approval from the July plenary session to modernize and expand the service area for motorhomes, caravans, and campers in Albacete. The only existing area near the university campus, with eight spaces, is overcrowded on weekends and holidays and has outdated facilities. Plans include renovating the current area on Avenida de España with shade structures, public toilets, upgraded water points, electricity, and CCTV, as well as creating a second area. Average daily spending by motorhome tourists is estimated at 170 euros, with annual revenue from this tourism reaching about one million euros.
