Sunlight becomes The Wave's first campervan and motorhome partner

AB Campers, founded on a father-and-son campervan project, has expanded to three premises in South West Wales, launched a try-before-you-buy hire service, and is offering a pop-top roof promotion until July 31, 2026. The company was named Campervan Conversion Company of the Year 2025/26 at the Wales Prestige Awards and received the Business Choice Award at the Business Growth Awards West Wales 2026. It provides full and partial conversions, repairs, upholstery, electrical work, and manufactures its own products, including rock 'n' roll beds. The hire service for a four-berth Ford Transit Custom named Doris starts at £90 per night, with up to 100% of hire costs deductible against a future conversion.

Actor Jason Momoa, together with British company Electrogenic, has unveiled a series of electric conversions: hybrid Harley-Davidson motorcycles from the 1920s and fully electric Land Rovers. The 1924 and 1927 Harley-Davidson Model JD bikes feature a plug-in hybrid with a 15 hp electric motor and a retained 20 hp internal combustion engine, while the 1921 Model FD received a fully electric drivetrain. The 1949 Land Rover Series I and the Series IIA 109 Dormobile camper are equipped with 48 kWh and 62 kWh batteries respectively, offering a range of about 240 km. A Schutt Industries XVENTURE XV-2 trailer with a 93 kWh battery for off-grid power is also included.

Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, offers accommodation in caravans, lodges, and touring pitches. Facilities include outdoor and indoor pools, children's entertainment, adventure golf, and The Nab restaurant. Meal prices are around £15 for adults, with kids' meals at £1 with an adult meal.

A passive-aggressive banner reading 'BCP Council welcomes long term van dwellers' has appeared in Southbourne Overcliff, highlighting the issue of caravans and motorhomes parking long-term on a clifftop road. Around 20 vehicles are parked opposite luxury flats worth over £1m, with residents complaining about obstructed views, lack of toilet facilities, and safety concerns. A petition urging BCP Council to act has gathered hundreds of signatures; the council removed the banner as unauthorised and is considering parking restrictions.

A significant fire broke out on the evening of 12 July at Oaks Caravan Park in Fyfield Wick, Oxfordshire, reportedly started by a barbecue. 125 firefighters from four counties tackled the blaze; no injuries were reported. Families forced to evacuate their caravans due to a fire at Oaks caravan park near Kingston Bagpuize have been given temporary emergency accommodation. The accidental fire, believed to have started from a barbecue, occurred on the evening of July 12, with 125 firefighters called to tackle the blaze. Damage to the electricity system rendered the park unsafe, and 12 households were rehoused by Vale of White Horse District Council.
