How to read the plate
An Israeli plate is digits only on a yellow background: seven (12-345-67) or, since 2017, eight (123-45-678). A blue band on the left carries the flag, IL and the word "Israel" in Hebrew and Arabic. The digits are a nationwide sequence; there is no region on the plate.
Region codes
Plates in this country do not show the region — you cannot tell it from the plate.
History
Plates of the British Mandate and the first Israeli series had letter prefixes. The current all-digit yellow format dates from the 1990s, eight-digit numbers from 2017; it has no regional system.
