Custom text: real plates never carry this combination.

How to read the plate
A Bolivian plate shows four digits and three letters in blue (1852PHD) inside a blue border, with BOLIVIA on top and the flag on the left. The number is for life and stays with the vehicle. The department is shown by a letter in a separate square (a sticker) at the top right: L La Paz, S Santa Cruz, C Cochabamba, O Oruro, P Potosí, H Chuquisaca, T Tarija, B Beni, N Pando; the letters match the ISO codes. The square's colour gives the type of service: red for public transport, white for private cars, yellow for government vehicles, green for electric vehicles.

The 1000AAA format has been used since 1999 (according to Spanish Wikipedia); the design drawn here is the 2006 series. Until 1987 plates read 123 ABC: the first letter was the department, the second the vehicle type. On police (PNX 123) and air force (FAX 123) plates the X stands for the department letter. A MERCOSUR plate (AB 12345) has been announced but not widely introduced.
