Gas Safety Certificate
Gas Safety Certificate, gas test, gas check, LPG certificate, Gas Safe Register, motorhome gas inspection
A Gas Safety Certificate confirms that a vehicle's LPG system has been tested by a registered engineer and found safe. In the UK it is mandatory for every motorhome offered for hire and is renewed annually.
The engineer pressure-tests the pipework for leaks and checks hoses, the regulator, gas locker ventilation, flues and the combustion of every appliance — hob, water heater, space heater and fridge. The work must be done by someone on the Gas Safe Register with the LPG and leisure-vehicle endorsements. Rubber hoses are replaced every five years by their stamped date regardless of test results. Private owners are not legally required to hold a certificate, but insurers routinely ask for one after a fire claim.
