Child seats in a motorhome

A child seat in a motorhome may only go on a forward-facing designated travel seat with a three-point belt. Side sofas and dinette seats with lap belts are not suitable.

In the EU and UK children must use a restraint until they reach 135–150 cm, depending on the country. The motorhome-specific problem is that berths outnumber belted travel seats: a six-berth vehicle often has only four. ISOFIX is rare and fitted only to specific seats — check the manufacturer's plate, not the look of the seat. A backless booster requires a three-point belt specifically. On hire vehicles, book seats in advance; stock is limited.
