Woman dies in attempted robbery on Toluca-Palmillas highway

On June 18, 2026, a woman was killed during an attempted robbery on the Toluca-Palmillas highway in Querétaro, Mexico. She was traveling in the camper of a pickup truck when armed suspects tried to force the vehicle to stop. The driver accelerated, triggering a chase during which shots were fired. Tamaulipas State Guard provides security for caravan of nationals

As part of the Héroes Paisanos program, the Migrantes Unidos caravan, comprising 402 vehicles and about two thousand people, entered Mexico through the border in Nuevo Laredo. The Tamaulipas State Guard, together with the National Guard, traffic police and other agencies, provided security along Federal Highway 85 to the Nuevo León border.
