BGH overturns sentence for motorhome arson in Dömitz

Germany's Federal Court of Justice partially overturned the sentence of Daniel J., convicted of setting fire to a motorhome in which three people were sleeping. The incident occurred in May 2025 at the port of Dömitz (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania). The court upheld the conviction for attempted murder and aggravated arson but found an error in the assessment of 'increased criminal energy' during sentencing. The case has been remanded to a different chamber of the Schwerin Regional Court for a new hearing; a date has not yet been set.

Campsite in Lingen attracts visitors with location at three bodies of water

The 'Camping am Wasserfall' campsite in Lingen-Hanekenfähr (Lower Saxony) is situated between the Ems River, the Dortmund-Ems Canal, and the hotel at the waterfall. Statute of limitations for traffic fines for motorhomes to double from July 2026

Starting July 1, 2026, the statute of limitations for traffic offenses in Germany will increase from three to six months. This affects typical violations for motorhome and caravan owners, such as speeding, running red lights, overloading, and illegal parking. The law has been published in the Bundesgesetzblatt. The change is due to overloaded fine enforcement agencies that could not process cases within the previous timeframe.

Perfect Van Fox: Ford Transit 4x4 with hybrid water system and removable sink

Perfect Van has launched the Fox motorhome based on the Ford Transit 4x4. The model features a hybrid water system (65-litre tank and two 5-litre canisters), a removable ReSi sink for showering, a dry separating toilet, and sheep wool insulation. The motorhome sleeps four, includes a pop-up bed and a hidden workspace. Hand-built in Baden-Württemberg. Price not disclosed.

Caravan Salon 2026 in Düsseldorf: Ticket sales start for world's largest camping trade fair

The Caravan Salon, the world's largest trade fair for mobile travel, will take place in Düsseldorf from August 28 to September 6, 2026. Ticket prices remain unchanged from last year: weekend adult tickets cost €20, weekday tickets €18. Over 750 exhibitors will showcase products across 15 halls, including new focus areas for off-road motorhomes in halls 16 and 17 and a dedicated section for roof tents in hall 7a. The event attracted over 250,000 visitors in 2024.
