Hundreds of RVs, travel trailers and luxury motorhomes have taken over the west parking lot of Calgary's McMahon Stadium, where tourists are camping out during the Calgary Stampede. The lot, normally used only for parking during Stampeders games, becomes a temporary campground during the festival.
Northwest Territories Tourism and Travel Alberta, in cooperation with Canada specialist CRD Touristik, are offering a special PEP for counter professionals. The individual self-drive fam trip follows the Northern Sky Corridor from Edmonton, Alberta to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
Canadian manufacturer Rover Tiny Homes has unveiled the Apex model, a single-story tiny house with 45 square meters of floor space that is not mobile and is built on site. Unlike typical tiny houses, the bedroom is not under the roof but in a separate area. A key feature is a mudroom with a separate exterior exit, rare even in larger homes. Pricing starts at approximately 132,000 euros.
The RVezy platform, described as an 'Airbnb for RVs,' connects owners and renters. Rentals from major agencies (CanaDream, Cruise Canada, Fraserway) cost CAD 100–400 per night; on RVezy, CAD 100–150 for a travel trailer and CAD 200–300 for a motorhome, often with unlimited mileage. Additional costs: a kilometre package (CAD 300 for 800 km), insurance (CAD 15–35 per day), and a basic kit (about CAD 100). Campsites range from CAD 15–20 per night without hookups to CAD 30–60 in national parks. Booking is recommended 2–3 days in advance, or 6 months for popular parks.
Canadian manufacturer Leisure Travel Vans has introduced updates for the 2027 Wonder and Unity models. The Ford Transit-based Wonder starts at $197,130, while the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter-based Unity starts at $227,100. Standard equipment now includes a 120V outlet, floor mats, removable trunk lining, a pull-out kitchen faucet, and a TV antenna. A Desert Shadow package with tri-coat paint, black aluminum wheels, and all-terrain tires is available for both models.
A female motorcyclist was pronounced dead Sunday evening on Highway 99 near Squamish after striking an RV. According to BC RCMP, she and another rider were speeding and driving erratically. The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on July 5. The highway was closed for more than seven hours.
