Hong Kong to consider including Guangdong vehicles in Lantau self-drive quota

Hong Kong's Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Chen Meibao, stated that the annual quota of 12,000 permits for self-drive tours on Lantau Island has been fully utilized for the past three years, with over 84,000 applications in 2023. Authorities will explore including vehicles from Guangdong province in this quota, extending permits for overnight stays, increasing the quota for electric vehicles, and launching open-top bus tours to boost tourism in South Lantau.
