Hong Kong's Licensing Authority has updated guidelines for guesthouse licenses to include campsites, motorhome parks, and tent camps. Authorities are considering allowing motorhomes to legally drive on roads, which is currently prohibited. The Transport Department previously refused registration due to limited road capacity and lack of facilities, but with the 'Guangdong Cars South' program expanding to 200 daily quotas from July 25 and plans to cover all 21 cities in Guangdong by Q1 2026, relaxation is being discussed.

The Home Affairs Department issued two guidelines on licensing guesthouses, building campsites, RV parks, tent sites, and village houses. All unauthorized building works in village houses must be removed and the original layout restored. Campsites must have 24-hour staff, and a five-meter no-fire zone is required around each RV or tent. Renting out grassland without fixed structures may be exempt from licensing.

Hong Kong authorities have relaxed licensing requirements for rural guesthouses, campsites and campervan lots. New guidelines published on 29 June 2026 allow alternative fire safety measures and flexible assessment of pre-1961 buildings.

New Gonow Recreational Vehicles Inc. reported that all resolutions at its annual general meeting on June 26, 2026, were approved by shareholders via poll. Hong Kong's Transport and Logistics Minister Chen Meibao stated that all annual self-drive quotas for Lantau Island (about 12,000) have been fully allocated over the past three years, with over 84,000 applications in 2023. Authorities are considering including Guangdong vehicles in the quota, extending permits for overnight stays, and increasing the quota for electric vehicles, but consultations with local residents and the district council are needed.

On April 30, a shareholder of New Gonow RV (00805) transferred shares from First Shanghai Securities to CMB International Securities. The transfer value was HKD 141 million, representing 10.67% of total shares. The company's annual revenue for 2025 was RMB 871 million, up 0.8% year-on-year, while net profit fell 28.9% to RMB 30.82 million.
