The Sandpoint City Council voted 4-2 to begin construction of a modified version of the City Beach RV Park renovation project this winter. The essential option will use roughly $270,000 of the construction budget and will not include a restroom and shower facility, which is delayed to a later date. The signature option, retaining the restroom and shower, would cost about $660,000 and delay construction for a year. The city plans to apply for additional grants in January to eventually build the restroom and shower facility.

About 25 to 30 Hartwick, N.Y., residents attended the Planning Board meeting on Tuesday night to voice concerns over the proposed Goey Straits Campground, a 76-unit RV resort planned for the hillside across from Cooperstown Dreams Park. The project, designed by Napierala Consulting, calls for prefabricated RV units on permanent pads with water, septic, and electric service, plus amenities such as a pool and gated entry. Developers said the terraced layout would preserve views toward the ballfields and that on-site infrastructure, including a new well, septic systems, and stormwater controls, would meet county and state standards. They also brought in traffic engineer Gordon Stansbury of GTS Consulting, who said his study found no significant impact, projecting about 30 to 40 cars entering and exiting during peak hours. Residents strongly disagreed.
