Lappeenranta opens paid parking area for motorhomes and caravans at Pallonlahti

A company from Joensuu has developed a ready-made furniture kit for converting a van into a camper in minutes. The manufacturer targets the mass market and aims to smooth out seasonal fluctuations in the construction industry.

Finnish publication Sotkamo-lehti compared traditional summer cottages and motorhomes as holiday options. Cottages require constant repairs and are fixed in one location, while motorhomes offer mobility but need route planning. Motorhomes allow changing locations every weekend and easier short trips, but cottages remain a family hub with familiar infrastructure and a private sauna.

Finnish actress Pilvi Hämäläinen, traveling alone through Europe in an old motorhome, mistook a group of men for criminals. They turned out to be police officers conducting a routine check.

The owner of an Adria Alpina caravan, purchased in 2021 for €41,410, struggled with a faulty refrigerator for five years. The seller and manufacturer failed to fix the defect despite multiple repairs and diagnostics at the factory in Sweden. The Consumer Disputes Board recommended contract cancellation, after which the seller installed a new battery-powered refrigerator.

Teemu Tuoma from Pello converted a Scania truck cabin into a sauna and also built a motorhome from a truck chassis. The project took two years, with Tuoma preferring older vehicle models.

Finnish company Wayly has launched a summer campaign for motorhome and caravan rentals. A weekly rental starts at €990, which the company claims can be cheaper than a traditional holiday with hotels and dining. A Summer Deal program offers two months free rental (including taxes and insurance) when signing a 12-month lease, with the lease starting in autumn. The offer is valid until June 30, 2026.
