Lestre prepares municipal decree on motorhome parking after tensions

The commune of Lestre (Manche, France) plans to adopt a municipal decree regulating motorhome parking along the shoreline. The move follows an influx of vehicles during the nesting season of the ringed plover (Charadrius hiaticula), a rare and protected bird species in Europe. Existing signs from the French Biodiversity Office do not explicitly prohibit parking, leading to repeated violations and conflicts. The decree must be approved by the municipal council, after which traffic signs will be installed within 15 days.

Caravans forced entry into stadium during festival in Beaumont-sur-Lèze

On Pentecost Sunday, a group of travelers forcibly entered the sports complex in Beaumont-sur-Lèze (Haute-Garonne), sawing through gates to install a line of caravans. Mayor Olivier Carté described it as a 'commando operation' and suspects a leak of information. An oral agreement was reached for departure by June 7, but material damage and illegal water connections were reported. Residents express concern, and sports clubs now share a single field.
