Thales Alenia Space Italia, in cooperation with the Italian Space Agency (ASI), is developing the Multi-Purpose Habilitation Module (MPH) for the Moon. On Friday afternoon around 4:00 PM, a collision between a motorhome and a Daewoo car occurred at the traffic light intersection of Corso Trieste and Strada Vallere in Moncalieri. The impact was not severe, but the Daewoo ended up completely sideways across the lanes in front of the motorhome, which stopped in the middle of the road. Traffic was slowed until the vehicles were removed; the intersection is monitored by a red-light camera system, preventing minor violations.
In Gassino Torinese, Italy, the former Olindo Fiore sports field in Bussolino has been converted into a free parking area for five motorhomes. The project cost €82,000 (€50,000 from regional funds and €32,000 from the municipal budget), drawing criticism from the opposition. Maurizio Gazzara, leader of the Gassino Insieme list, argued the funds should have been used for road and sidewalk repairs instead. He also cited a 1985 notarial deed stating the land was designated for social and cultural facilities, not parking. The parking regulations were approved by a majority vote, but the debate continues.
In Tolentino, unknown individuals broke the window of a parked motorhome, entered, drank beer, and left a mess. The owners had to postpone their planned trip to the sea. Damage to the window is estimated at 500 euros. The incident was reported to the carabinieri.
Italian manufacturer Rimor has introduced the Sarus 66 Plus, a motorhome measuring 7.44 m in length, 2.34 m in width, and 2.94 m in height, with an interior height of 2.07 m. The model accommodates four adults and features a rear double bed, a drop-down bed above the dinette, a kitchen with a gas hob, a separate toilet and shower. It is built on a Fiat Ducato chassis with a 2.2 Multijet diesel engine producing 140 hp and a 6-speed manual transmission. Francesco Caldarola, 34, from Trani, left his career as a cultural consultant to live in a 1974 caravan of about 10 sq m. In September 2024, he traveled to Sicily without a plan, working on olive harvests, in a restaurant, and at a circus school. He later converted an abandoned garden into a micro-campsite. He is now seeking a plot in Apulia, facing regulatory restrictions on parking.

La vita in cammino di uno spirito libero', a non-fiction account of 77-year-old Carmela Scarvaglieri, who lives alone in a motorhome and travels between Sardinia and Morocco. M5S group leader Maria Grazia Ciolfi criticized the Latina administration for a motorhome parking area project, calling it unsubstantiated. On June 12 at around 4:00 PM on state road SS527 Bustese in Oleggio, a car with a caravan got stuck at the entrance to a narrow metal bridge. Traffic was completely blocked in both directions until 7:00 PM.
Mountaineer Hervé Barmasse has started the Endurance Italia expedition, combining mountaineering, cycling and trail running. The route covers over 6,000 km with 90,000 meters of elevation gain in 30 days. A Giottiline Toscan 74 NF motorhome serves as the mobile base, provided by the Italian manufacturer. The project started from Cala Gonone (Sardinia) and will end in Trieste.
From June 12 to 14, 2026, the town of Copparo, Italy, will host the Arcer 2026 Storico regional motorhome rally. The event is organized by the Emilia-Romagna Regional Camper Association in collaboration with local clubs and the municipality. Participants will park in the caravan area on Via Michelangelo. The program includes a bike tour with a visit to the La Tratta history museum, a guided tour of Ferrara's historic center, and attendance at the Palio di Copparo.
Local police in Rosignano Marittimo have increased checks on camper vans. Setting up stabilizer legs, awnings, or outdoor furniture on public land is prohibited. Fines: €100 for camping outside designated areas, €87 for parking in restricted zones, and €87 for discharging waste. The municipality provides two equipped camper areas and several seasonal parking spots.
With schools closing in Italy, a massive exodus of families in motorhomes is underway, with up to 80,000 vehicles expected. Campsites are already full of foreign tourists, mostly retirees and some young people. Italians traditionally take their holidays in July and August, including itinerant trips.
On the morning of June 11, 2026, at the entrance to Lu Bagnu near Castelsardo (Sassari province), a car collided with a motorhome. A 49-year-old Sardinian woman suffered multiple limb fractures and was airlifted by rescue helicopter to Santissima Annunziata hospital. The two tourists in the motorhome sustained only minor injuries. The Carabinieri are investigating the crash.
In Rovigo, on June 10, the 22nd Opera Prima festival began. The program included 'Officina oceanografica sentimentale' by Compagnia Samovar, a show for seven spectators inside a caravan. The performance uses handmade mechanisms, such as a chisel as a fish, to create a comic and touching image of the sea.
