Motorhome checklist: tips from a Bocholt expert for campers

On Saturday afternoon, a motorhome overturned on the A2 motorway near Burg (Saxony-Anhalt). The 64-year-old driver and 63-year-old passenger, Dutch nationals, sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital. Traffic was disrupted; the cause is under investigation.

Leipzig is emerging as a more attractive destination for motorhome travel than Berlin, due to its compactness, affordability, and developed infrastructure. Nearly 100,000 campers voted in a Eurocamping portal survey to determine Europe's top campsites. Two Bavarian sites — Arterhof (Best Campsites category) and Marktler Badesee (Small & Fine category) — were among the winners. A total of 36 campsites across Europe received awards, including locations in Norway, Spain, and Sweden.

A motorhome caught fire on the A6 near Neuendettelsau on the afternoon of the incident. The fire started in a construction zone. According to police, no one was injured. The highway towards Schwabach was completely closed, with delays also on the opposite side. The full closure lasted about an hour, after which traffic was gradually allowed past the scene. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage remain unknown.

Instead, it features a rear seating area and a main bed in the pop-up roof. This configuration targets couples or solo travelers who use the van as a mobile workspace. The model includes a partition to the cab, a fixed ladder to the roof, and enhanced living space at the rear.
