North Yorkshire Council retrospectively approved the placement of three static caravans at Star Carr Farm to house six seasonal Polish workers. The three-year permit allows James Stockdale Ltd to keep the caravans on its Scarborough farm. The company stated that seasonal employees are critical to its potato operations, as it has been unable to recruit local workers for temporary, low-paid outdoor work. Workers may be employed up to 14 hours a day, including night shifts for emergency deliveries to McCain.
