A family-friendly campervan festival at Scampston Hall

VanLife Fest @ the Hall is a family-friendly campervan extravaganza set in the grounds of Scampston Hall, near the historic market town of Malton in North Yorkshire. The weekend is built around a relaxed camping atmosphere: campers are guided to the field to set up, then wander a trade village stocked by some of the best camper and festival traders in the country, selling everything from van parts to outdoor gear and artisan crafts. Live music plays across the weekend, alongside fully licensed bars and a wide variety of street-food vendors.

The event leans heavily into keeping families and children entertained, with free activities including a big-top circus skills tent, a climbing wall and archery. Van owners are invited to show off their vehicles and compete for awards such as 'Best daily driver' and 'Best self-build', and a Coffee Club zone hosts guest speakers from the vanlife community for talks and demos. It is strictly a campervan/motorhome-only event — caravans, folding campers and tents are not permitted. Dogs are welcome on leads.

A30 Westbound Lanes Reopen After Lorry and Caravan Collision Near Sourton Cross

A collision between a lorry and a car towing a caravan on the A30 Okehampton Bypass caused lane closures on the westbound carriageway near Sourton Cross. Police responded at around 11:05 am on July 24. The caravan sustained substantial damage, but no injuries were reported. Both lanes have reopened, though residual congestion and delays are expected.

1966 motorhome with Mini garage and recording studio

In 1966, British coachbuilder Harold Radford Coachbuilders built the Transcontinental Carabus Mk2 motorhome for steel magnate Philip Lee, based on an AEC Reliance bus. The 11-metre vehicle featured a hydraulic lift for a Mini Cooper S, a recording studio, two toilets, a roof-access lift, and a kitchen with a dishwasher. The project cost £25,000 (over €700,000 in today's money). DVLA records show the motorhome was scrapped decades ago; the Mini's last registration was in 1985.
