In Brief

Three families from the UK, Spain and Brazil built their own motorhomes: Brits converted a Peugeot Boxer van, Spaniards documented the process on video, and Brazilians built a home on a DAF truck chassis

Three families from different countries shared their experiences building their own motorhomes. A British family converted a Peugeot Boxer L3H2 van into a luxury camper in one year. The interior features vinyl wood-look flooring, laminated cabinets, a kitchen with induction hob and extractor, and a bathroom with chemical toilet and shower. The sleeping area includes a double bed and a TV on a swivel mount. Power is supplied by a lithium battery charged via solar panel, mains socket or engine.

A family from Zaragoza (Spain) released a video showing the step-by-step conversion of a van into a camper. This project was the next step after using a tent.

A Brazilian family, owners of a transport company, built a motorhome on a DAF CF truck chassis. The 8-metre-long, six-berth home on wheels has a direct passage from the cab, a slide-out section, two kitchens and a laundry room. The project is built on a chassis with a 310 hp engine and a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Finally, someone has designed a camper trailer for electric cars. It was born from a failed idea: a roof box that turned into a house

Wheelhome has launched the Dashaway eCT, an ultralight camper trailer designed specifically for electric vehicles. The trailer weighs 340 kg, offers 3.94 m² of living space with a kitchen and convertible bed, and features a gas-free, all-electric system. Priced at £26,225, it addresses the range and weight concerns that plagued its previous roof-mounted prototype for the Tesla Model 3.

If Homer Simpson had designed a camper car, it would have been like this six-wheeled Cadillac with a coffee maker and TV

In 1978, Swiss designer Franco Sbarro created a mobile office based on a Cadillac Eldorado for Saudi businessman Joseph E. Adjadj. The vehicle, over seven meters long and weighing nearly three tons, featured four large seats, desks, telephones, a refrigerator, a coffee maker, and a TV, but no beds or kitchen. The project remained a single prototype, as it was considered too large, expensive, and ahead of its time for an era without remote work culture.

Limeira City Council to Consider Bill Regulating Trailers in Public Spaces

The Limeira City Council (SP) will analyze on Monday (25th) a bill establishing rules for the use of public spaces by individuals and businesses, including the installation and operation of trailers, containers, food trucks, and similar structures. Authors Everton Ferreira and Felipe Penedo state the proposal results from public debate and technical studies aimed at revitalizing and orderly reoccupying these areas to boost local commerce. If passed, the bill would allow, subject to technical analysis, the connection of water, sewage, and electricity to such structures.

Renan Santos plans to use motorhomes for campaign strategy

Brazilian presidential pre-candidate Renan Santos (Missão party) intends to use motorhomes for travel across the country. According to campaign coordinator Amanda Vettorazzo, this is cheaper than flights and more practical for reaching small towns quickly. Motorhomes, popular in the US, include bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and can be adapted for studios. With no TV airtime, the campaign relies on videos and live streams; a Datafolha poll on the 22nd showed Santos at 3%.
