On the evening of July 7, 74 caravans of travellers illegally set up on a protected seven-hectare meadow in Chinon (Indre-et-Loire). The same convoy had previously been evicted from Avoine. Farmer Stéphane Archambault fears the destruction of flora and fauna on the Natura 2000 site and a 50% drop in next year's fodder yield. Mayor Jean-Luc Dupont said the group refused to use the designated reception area and issued an eviction order on the morning of July 8.
