Two women from Strasbourg converted a Kangoo van into a camper and set off on a trip to Brittany. Anna had previously converted an old Kangoo; this time the preparation took about 18 months, including mechanical repairs, insulation, installation of water and electrical systems with charging from the vehicle battery, a PVC floor, a bench bed, ceiling lights and a sliding rear window.

In France, hairdresser Alexia Beaugrand has converted a campervan into a mobile hair salon. Every Wednesday she travels through villages that lack hairdressing services to serve local residents. The initiative addresses the shortage of essential services in rural areas.

As part of the 60th anniversary of the Salon des Véhicules de Loisirs (SVDL), an exhibition titled “Expo Anniversaire” showcases historic motorhomes and caravans. The display in Hall 2B at the Parc des Expositions du Bourget features around ten models produced between 1959 and 1979. Among them are caravans Riva Stella (1959), Hymer (1960) hitched to a Ford Taunus, Chollet 300 (1965), a wooden folding Rapido (1965), Eriba Puck (1970) and Notin Hirondelle (1977), as well as motorhomes Notin (1951), Volkswagen Combi T1 Westfalia (1966) and two Hymermobil integrated models: 520 D (1976) and 581 BS (1979). Visitors cannot access the interiors.

According to a study by peer-to-peer rental platform Wikicampers, 17.2% of trips in summer 2026 were booked less than seven days before departure, up from 11.9% in 2025. The median lead time fell from 46 to 35 days. Average trip distance decreased by 11% to 1,161 km, with average duration at 7.2 days. Campervans, vans and combis accounted for 56.4% of rentals, up 5.4 percentage points year-on-year. 48% of renters departed from their own department and 67.2% from their own region. Departure volumes rose in Doubs, Savoie, Manche and Hautes-Pyrénées.

Dreamer, a brand of the Rapido Group, has unveiled the Lift Van Up 2027, based on the 6.36-metre Fiat Ducato with standard H2 roof height. The camper van features an electrically height-adjustable bed that creates a high rear storage area at the push of a button without removing the bed. An optional pop-top roof increases space. The magazine promobil tested the vehicle over several days after its presentation at the company's headquarters in Mayenne, France.

In the Eure department, Patric and Catherine converted their garden into a motorhome stopover area, investing €80,000 in the project. The site, named “La Goule”, has eight pitches with electricity, sanitary facilities and a small grocery shop. As of summer 2023, it had been operating for two months and could accommodate up to six motorhomes per day. The owners did not aim for immediate profit; the site was full during the high season, and some visitors planned to return in September.
