Volkswagen presented the ID. California Cruise, its first electric camper based on the ID.Buzz Pro, at the Caravan Salon 2026 in Düsseldorf. The model is available with short and long wheelbases, features a sleeping area measuring 2.03 m by 1.20 m, climate control that can run for up to 48 hours, and V2L capability with up to 3.6 kW output. European pricing starts at 60,761 euros, with first deliveries expected in early 2027.

At the Caravan Salon 2026, Truma and GOK presented new gas regulators that make small gas sources safe and legal for use in motorhomes. The Truma MonoControl CS R is designed for Campingaz R 904/R 907 cylinders and includes a crash sensor, while the GOK regulator (30 mbar, 0.5 kg/h) is certified to EN 16129 and works with screw-on cartridges. This allows campers to replace heavy 11-kg cylinders, saving up to 15.5 kg.

At the Caravan Salon 2026 in Düsseldorf, Knaus Tabbert will present its extensive product portfolio and highlights of the 2027 model year in Hall 1. The focus is on the KNAUS, WEINSBERG and TABBERT brands, as well as the world premiere of the KNAUS VAN TI PLUS, a compact camper based on the VW Crafter with optional all-wheel drive. Morelo will be represented separately with luxury liners in Hall 16.

After two and a half years of renovation, the Isarflimmern snack bar officially opened on Friday at the Thalkirchen campsite in Munich. The former 1970s building has been replaced by a wooden structure with a terrace extending over the water, offering nearly double the seating. Operator Klaus Bartl, who leases the site from the city-owned MRG, invested a six-figure sum in the project. Due to ongoing construction, only about 200 of the 450 pitches are currently available, but MRG expects to complete all work by the end of the year, enabling the campsite to operate in winter for the first time. Bartl also secured the Flößerstadl tent for Oktoberfest after the previous tenant withdrew.

Police in Berlin are investigating suspected serious arson after two cars and a caravan were completely destroyed by fire in the Treptow-Köpenick district. The incident occurred on Kiefholzstraße in the night before Friday. A witness reported the caravan burning, and the flames then spread to the adjacent cars. Four other vehicles, a street lamp, and two trees were also damaged by the heat. No injuries were reported, and a technical fault was ruled out as the cause.
