Baileyton proposes new rules for campgrounds and RV parks

A 1937 Pierce Arrow Travelodge Model C motorhome has been listed on Bring a Trailer auction in the US, priced at $36,000. Between 1936 and 1938, 450 to 520 units were produced. The vehicle features aluminum body panels, independent suspension, and power brakes, with a wood-trimmed interior, gas stove, and heater.

Williamson County Emergency Services issued a mandatory evacuation order for the area near Shady River RV Resort and GoodWater RV Park in Georgetown due to flooding. The National Weather Service has a flood warning until Wednesday evening for the south fork of the San Gabriel River, which was expected to crest at 10.9 feet after overnight storms. A temporary evacuation site is set up at Georgetown Church of the Nazarene.

The Florida and Alabama RV Park and Campground Association has presented a Best Park Award to Sugar Loaf Key RV Resort & Cottages in Summerland Key. The 2026 awards were presented on April 30 during the association's annual Outdoor Hospitality Convention & Expo in Orlando. The resort offers 65 full-hookup RV campsites and 35 vacation rentals, including cottages and bungalows. Since opening in 2023, its rental inventory has grown by 50%.

Go RVing continues to promote RV travel as a way to see the USA, tapping into cultural conversations around America’s 250th anniversary, Route 66’s 100th anniversary, and this year’s biggest soccer tournament. Two new itineraries have been created: “Show Me Around the Show-Me State” (Missouri) and “Where the Great Lakes Offer Great Fun” (Erie, Pennsylvania). Under the RV-2-50 initiative, 20 itineraries have been published, developed in collaboration with destination marketing organizations and campgrounds.

The RV Industry Association reported that total RV shipments in April 2026 fell to 29,209 units, a 17.4% decline from 35,375 units in April 2025. Year-to-date shipments through April dropped 13.5% to 115,260 units. Towable RV shipments decreased 20.7%, while motorhome shipments increased 13.0%.

Gulf State Park in Alabama has opened a new RV resort with 103 premium campsites, bringing the park's total to 607 sites. The resort features a clubhouse, bathhouses, a saltwater pool, playground, and pickleball courts. The expansion was funded by Alabama's $85 million state parks investment approved by voters in 2022.
