The Miramar City Commission is scheduled to hold a final vote on May 20 on an ordinance prohibiting recreational vehicles from being used as homes in residentially zoned neighborhoods. Police identified 80 RVs in one zone in eastern Historic Miramar, many possibly used as rental properties. Commissioner Yvette Colbourne sponsors the measure to close parking and zoning loopholes, introducing a formal RV registration process. Mayor Wayne M. Messam acknowledged economic factors but stated the practice must stop due to infrastructure strain and resident complaints about rodents, blocked streets, and declining quality of life.
