Miramar tightens rules as RV living spreads in neighborhoods

The 38-year-old PGA Tour player from Westerville, Ohio, is camping in his luxury motorhome parked at his house during the Memorial Tournament. Day lives only 15 miles from Muirfield Village Golf Club but chooses to sleep in the RV to simulate a typical tournament week on the road. The practice began in 2020 when he achieved his best finish at the event. Day says home-field advantage is a distraction and the RV helps him maintain his routine.

On Wednesday, a motorhome caught fire on I-80 in west Lincoln, Nebraska. The fire started in the engine compartment; the owners and their cat evacuated safely. Firefighters responded at 12:44 p.m. after the fire reignited. The cause was a mechanical failure. The RV, valued at $175,000, and its contents, valued at $15,000, were a total loss.

Indiana-based Encore RV has developed a heated pop-up wet bathroom for its ROG 12RK off-road camping trailer. When closed, the module resembles a storage box; when deployed, it provides seven feet of interior height with a toilet and hot shower. Metal rods bow the walls outward to prevent wet surfaces from contacting the user.

The RV Industry Association held a Campground Coalition meeting focused on Grounding Monitor Interrupters (GMI) during RVs Move America Week in Washington, D.C. GMI devices are expected to be required on all 2028 model year RVs. The coalition plans to create an informational document for campgrounds and consumers.

The Benton County Planning Board voted 5-0 to approve the site plan for Ozark Trails RV Park on about two acres at 16653 School House Road. Construction is expected to begin within months. The park will enforce quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. and use a septic system and private well approved by the Arkansas Department of Health.

Lake Durant (Okla.) has completed renovations of its RV pads, which had been unavailable since fall 2024. The pads were extended and upgraded to accommodate larger RVs, with each site now featuring a grill, picnic table, fire ring and trash can.
