How to read the plate
A Cameroonian plate is orange with black characters. It begins with the two-letter region code (LT for Littoral, CE for Centre, OU for West and so on), followed by three or four digits and one or two series letters: LT 780 FQ. On the left are the CEMAC emblem and the letters CMR. The ten region codes match the ISO 3166-2 codes.

History
Region codes at the start of the number have been used since about 1985, and the CEMAC design since 2005. Earlier a single letter at the start marked the province: C or CS for Centre-South, E for East, L for Littoral, N for North, O for West, W for South-West. These old codes are known only from an amateur reference.
