How to read the plate
In the Bahamas each island or island group issues its own plates, and the region is read from the name on the plate: ABACO, HARBOUR ISLAND, GRAND BAHAMA. The current series has two letters and four digits with the Bahamian flag at the bottom. The example shows the earlier Abaco design: up to four digits, the island name at the top and BAHAMAS at the bottom.

History
The current base has been issued since 2016. In 1977 plates carried the slogan “IT'S BETTER IN THE BAHAMAS”. The sources give no full list of island captions.
