Caravanning in Europe: savings up to 60% compared to hotels

According to a study by the German Institute DWIF, commissioned by CIVD, caravanning in Europe can save up to 60% of the budget compared to hotel stays and apartment rentals. However, motorhomes are more expensive to buy and maintain than caravans. New motorhomes start at 300,000 zlotys, while used ones cost from 70,000 euros. Insurance for a motorhome costs 1.3–2% of its value, and some spare parts can cost up to 450 euros. Meanwhile, a 14-day holiday in a motorhome is cheaper than staying in an apartment or hotel.

Poland to exempt cars up to 3.5 t with trailers from e-TOLL

Starting September 21, 2026, vehicles with a permissible gross weight not exceeding 3.5 tonnes towing a trailer will be exempt from registration and toll payments in Poland's e-TOLL system. The data of such vehicles will be automatically removed from the register, and users can claim refunds of unused funds within six months, after which unclaimed amounts will be transferred to the National Road Fund.

Couple buys 14-year-old caravan with separate bedroom for 100,000 zlotys

Polish influencers Jakub Tolak and Zofia Samsel, known as @foxesineden, purchased a 14-year-old caravan with a separate bedroom for family trips. They chose the model for its separate space for a child, spacious living area, and large storage. The price was just over 100,000 zlotys. The couple noted that maintaining a large caravan may not be the most economical option and invited followers to ask questions about its use.

Poland ranks second in new motorhome comparison: affordable and close, but not toll-free for every motorhome

TUI Camper compared European countries on five criteria: campsite availability, traffic and accessibility, prices, nature and climate, and cultural and recreational offerings. Poland ranked second after Albania, ahead of Germany. The country combines moderate prices with good infrastructure and abundant nature. However, motorhomes with a permissible maximum mass over 3,500 kg may be subject to different toll rules, including mandatory registration in the e-TOLL system. As of February 1, 2026, the e-TOLL network covers nearly 5,900 km of roads. Also, from September 21, 2026, rules for cars with trailers will change.

Freedo 599 LU breaks with classic camper van layout

Polish manufacturer Freedo, part of the Swedish Kabe group, has introduced the 599 LU model based on the Fiat Ducato, where the driver's cab is separated from the living area. Early versions had a solid partition; later a sliding door was added. The living area features a large rear seating group for 5–6 people, converting at night into two single beds measuring 1.90 m and 1.97 m. Benefits include a more spacious feel, better stealth camping capability, and faster heating. Drawbacks are the lack of a front dinette, only two seat belts, reduced overhead storage above the cab, and a compact rear garage. Price starts at €71,600.

Niewiadów bounces back, second Polish brand becomes a hit among motorhomes. Volkswagen loses ground

In the first half of 2026, Poland registered 1,277 new motorhomes (+11.9% year-on-year). Market leader Volkswagen saw sales drop 25.7%, while Polish brand Masuria surged from 5 to 79 registrations (+1,480%) after opening a second factory. In the caravan segment, 556 units were registered (+5.9%), with Polish Niewiadów taking second place with a 50.6% increase, trailing only Hobby.

Poland abolishes e-TOLL road toll for passenger cars with trailers from September 21, 2026

Polish President Karol Nawrocki signed an amendment to the Public Roads Act, exempting passenger cars with trailers from registration in the e-TOLL system and payment of road tolls. The change takes effect on September 21, 2026. Previously, the toll applied if the combined permissible mass of the vehicle combination exceeded 3.5 tonnes. Now the decisive factor is the permissible mass of the towing vehicle: if it is up to 3.5 tonnes, no toll is charged regardless of the trailer's mass. The fine of 500 zloty for such vehicles is abolished, and pending administrative proceedings are discontinued. Funds on e-TOLL prepaid accounts can be refunded upon request within six months. The change does not affect toll sections of the A1, A2 and A4 motorways.
