Two motorhomes worth a total of around €110,000 were stolen in Erfurt over two days. The original keys remained with the owners, indicating professional perpetrators. A series of thefts and break-ins also affected Lower Saxony and Hesse, where intruders entered motorhomes through windows. Police are investigating possible links to an organized group.
A motorhome caught fire on the A6 near Neuendettelsau on the afternoon of the incident. The fire started in a construction zone. According to police, no one was injured. The highway towards Schwabach was completely closed, with delays also on the opposite side. The full closure lasted about an hour, after which traffic was gradually allowed past the scene. Sunlight has introduced the Cliff 540 Vanlife, based on the Fiat Ducato, which breaks with the standard camper van layout by omitting the rear transverse bed.
