In South Korea, campsites are increasingly refusing to refund deposits even when bookings are canceled immediately after payment. According to the Korea Fair Trade Commission, complaints about campsites rose from 81 in 2024 to 291 in 2025, with 173 related to refund denials. Authorities in North Chungcheong Province plan to inspect 60 campsites and 60 online platforms for compliance and propose a mandatory standard contract for the sector.

Previously, owners could avoid penalties by moving their vehicle within the same lot; now enforcement covers the entire lot. However, experts warn that a lack of CCTV and staff may hinder enforcement, and the shortage of dedicated motorhome and caravan parking facilities remains unaddressed.
