Overnight rules for campers and motorhomes tightened in Portugal

Portugal has tightened regulations for overnight stays in motorhomes and camper vans. Since 2021, a law prohibits sleeping in a vehicle between 9 PM and 7 AM outside designated areas, with fines up to 600 euros. Following criticism, an exception was added: in most areas except nature reserves, overnight stays are now permitted for up to 48 consecutive hours, but this mainly applies to motorhomes rather than camper vans.
