From abandoned caravan to office: Catalans and a Galician open surf school in Louro

A new trend in illegal squatting has emerged in Vitoria-Gasteiz, with parked motorhomes now being targeted. A resident found a squatter inside his motorhome, which had been damaged and ransacked. Local police arrested the suspect, and the owner filed a complaint. He expressed concern that this indicates rising crime, contradicting official statements.

The Villarcayo city council is considering two plots for a new paid motorhome area with 25 spaces: near the Cigüenza urbanization or in the Pontones area. The project, included in the 2026 budget with €120,000, is being drafted by a consultant who will also determine the best location. The initial site near the new tourist hostel was discarded after the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation declared it a flood zone. The area will feature automated access control, individual water and electricity hookups, and a fee to prevent uncontrolled camping that has caused resident complaints.

The 15th ExpoMóvil exhibition will take place on June 19–20 on Avenida de Canarias in Vecindario (Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Gran Canaria). The event will feature new and used cars, motorcycles, bicycles, caravans and mobility services.

A circular bus line connecting Marjaleria with the beach area has started operating. The route includes about 30 stops and will run until September 13. The free parking lot on Ferrandis Salvador Street has been reserved exclusively for cars and motorcycles until September 15, with motorhome parking prohibited.

On the morning of June 15, a caravan overturned on the A-7 highway in the municipality of Huércal-Overa (Almería). Two other vehicles were also involved in the accident. According to the 112 emergency service, there were no injuries, but the incident caused a multi-kilometer traffic jam.

A motorhome owner reported damage to their vehicle while boarding a Naviera Armas ferry in Las Palmas. According to the passenger, the ramp had an excessive incline, causing the left rear corner of the motorhome to be scraped during embarkation. The incident occurred on June 14, 2026; the damage was noticed upon arrival in Tenerife. The passenger is awaiting a response from Balerias regarding liability.
