How to read the plate
Since 1 June 2023 Côte d'Ivoire has issued lifelong AA-123-AA plates: two letters, three digits and two more letters. On the right is a band with CI at the top and the two-digit registration-zone code below (01 is Abidjan); on the left, a black security band with a QR label and a hologram. The other zone codes come from the table of the old blue series and could not be confirmed for the new plates.

Until June 2023 blue plates were issued: 4–5 digits, two series letters and a two-digit zone code 01–10 at the end (4550 EG 01) — they are still common. This scheme dated from 1991/1998. Earlier still, plates had silver characters on blue, with CI and a province digit at the end.
