GCWR, Gross Combined Weight Rating, combined weight limit, towing rig max weight, max combined weight
GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) is the maximum allowed total weight of the tow vehicle (or motorhome) plus trailer, fully loaded with cargo, water, fuel, and passengers. Must not be exceeded even if each unit is below its individual GVWR.
Formula: actual tow vehicle weight + actual trailer weight ≤ GCWR. GCWR is usually stricter than the sum of tow vehicle GVWR + trailer GVWR because the manufacturer factors in engine output, transmission, and cooling. In the US, GCWR determines the true towing capacity. In Europe the equivalent concept is Zulässiges Zuggewicht.
