Dry weight is the mass of an RV or trailer as it leaves the factory, with no fresh water, fuel, propane, passengers, or cargo. Listed in spec sheets and on the manufacturer label. Used as the baseline for capacity calculations.
Not to be confused with GVWR (max allowed weight) or payload (cargo capacity). Real-world dry weight is often 100–300 kg above the catalogue figure because of factory options (solar, A/C, extra battery) not counted in the base number. The most reliable way to know your dry weight is to weigh the rig empty right after delivery.
