Ogusho has unveiled the ES Tough Spec Concept based on the Nissan Caravan. The vehicle features bolt-on interior components that can be installed by the owner without modifying the body. Japanese convenience store chain Lawson is expanding its RV Park programme, which allows overnight stays in vehicles at store parking lots. On 9 October 2026, the service will launch for the first time in Gifu Prefecture (4 stores) and Mie Prefecture (5 stores), bringing the total to 37 locations. Further openings are planned for late October in Oita, Saga and Nagasaki, and in November in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Kagawa, Tokushima, Ehime, Kochi and Miyagi. The company aims to operate around 70 such sites by the end of fiscal 2026. A pitch costs between 2500 and 3000 yen per night, with check-in from 15:00 to 22:00 and check-out by 10:00 the next day. Each booking includes two parking spaces, a loan of an electric cable reel and free disposal of one bag of food waste.

Japanese couple Komusume and Ruipachi travel around Japan in a converted Toyota HiAce and run the YouTube channel "Vanlife Crazy" with over 230,000 subscribers. They met when Komusume was 7 years old: Ruipachi had previously dated her older sister, and they reconnected years later via Instagram. The couple left their apartment to live in a van after Ruipachi experienced a life-threatening illness at age 30. The vehicle was bought for just under 3 million yen, with about 1 million yen spent on DIY upgrades (battery, kitchen, bed); monthly living costs for two are 150,000–200,000 yen.
