National Motorhome, Campervan & Camping Exhibition 2026 Ended

Bicester Caravan and Leisure, located near Junction 9 of the M40 in Oxfordshire, is offering Elddis motorhomes with prices starting from £56,000. The dealership also provides an accessory shop, servicing facility, and secure storage. The offer targets families seeking an affordable alternative to rising flight and hotel costs.

Welsh Finance Minister Elin Jones confirmed that the visitor levy will apply to babies staying in caravans but not in tents. In a written answer, she stated that individuals under 18 are exempt only when staying overnight in tents at campsites, hostels, or other shared accommodation; all other accommodation types are chargeable. For a family of two adults, two babies, and an older child, a week's caravan holiday in Wales will cost an extra £54, including VAT; the levy is £1.56 per night per baby. Caravan park owners report difficulties in collecting the tax and have converted some sites to adult-only.

A new dwelling is proposed at Jedwater Caravan Park in Jedburgh, Scotland, to enable the phased succession of the family-run business from father to son. The park requires 24-hour on-site management, but current manager Michael Gibson lives off-site in Jedburgh and must commute when issues arise. The site, founded by the Gibson family in the 1950s, accommodates 86 static caravans with capacity for 92, plus 25 seasonal and touring caravans. A planning application has been submitted to Scottish Borders Council; the proposed site is within a flood plain but a Flood Risk Assessment shows it lies outside the 1 in 200 plus climate change modelled flood area.

Chris Coghill, who plays Kev Barton in Emmerdale, has bought a caravan to reduce his commute to the show's studios. The actor lives in Hertfordshire, about a three-hour drive from the set in the Yorkshire Dales. The caravan is kept in Leeds and will serve as accommodation while filming. Coghill's current role is a permanent, full-time cast member, prompting the move to cut travel time.

A group of 11 neighbours from Stronmilchan Road in Dalmally is calling on the owners of an unauthorised caravan site to rectify violations and on the council to enforce its rules and remove the site. The residents gathered at the site to protest.

Motorhome Matt, in partnership with Ripe Motorhome Insurance, outlined key considerations for buying a motorhome in 2027. He said compact motorhomes are getting smarter with better bathroom use, more storage and layouts that provide surprising living space. Lithium batteries are becoming standard, with more manufacturers designing electrical systems around them from the outset. Buyers should prioritise layout over specification, check payload carefully, consider air conditioning for UK heatwaves, and value the dealer relationship for future warranty work.
