Ringsaker to ban long-term motorhome parking at popular beach

The municipality of Ringsaker has asked the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to approve signs prohibiting overnight parking and sleeping in motorhomes and caravans at the municipal car park by Jessnes beach. The move follows complaints that long-term parked motorhomes occupy spaces needed for day visitors, especially families with children. The consultation deadline is 3 August.

Allemannsretten: Norway's Right to Roam Explained

Norway's Allemannsretten, codified in the 1957 Outdoor Recreation Act, allows camping on uncultivated land (utmark) for free without permission, provided tents are at least 150 metres from houses and not on cultivated or private land (innmark). Stays are limited to two nights in lowlands, longer in remote areas, and local restrictions may apply.
