In Eemnes, the annual caravan race Pulling Eemnes took place on Friday evening, with about 45 cars towing caravans. The goal was to keep driving as long as possible until the caravan was destroyed. The winners advanced to a reverse-driving caravan race, where caravans were completely wrecked. Around 5,000 visitors attended the event.
A Volkswagen Golf and a camper collided in Driezum. Both vehicles damaged, no injuries. Police filed a report.
An 84-year-old Dutch woman, Greetje de Koninck, tracked down her stolen bright-yellow camper using a tracker, with police already having recovered it in Belgium.
Campexx, a manufacturer of automatic leveling systems for motorhomes, was declared bankrupt on August 18. Hundreds of customers who paid deposits of 1,500–1,900 euros may lose their money. The company had locations in Winschoten, Netherlands, Niederlangen, Germany, and Beveren-Waas, Belgium. A Facebook group for affected customers has over 100 members, with reports of undelivered orders and malfunctions. Creditors, including staffing agency Haan Personeelsdiensten, claim damages of around one million euros. New company Camperlift, founded by former partners, gained access to Campexx's customer database and offers installation at a 50% discount, but this was only officially approved after the bankruptcy.
According to a new ranking by the camping platform PiNCAMP, three of the five most popular campsites in the Netherlands are located in Zeeland, with the top two spots also held by campsites in that province. The first place goes to Ardoer Comfortcamping Scheldeoord in Baarland, and the second to Landschapscamping Kijkuit in Zonnemaire. The top five also includes Camping De Zeehoeve (Friesland), Papillon Country Resort (Overijssel), and RCN de Schotsman (Zeeland). All five campsites are situated near water. The ranking is based on page views from January 1 to July 31, 2026, and only campsites with at least four reviews and an average score of at least 7 out of 10 were considered.
