The editorial team of the Mapple guidebook has compiled a list of 40 campsites in the San'in region (western Honshu, Japan). The selection includes both paid and free sites, covering coastal, mountain, and forest locations. Featured sites include Sakaiminato Kokyo Marina with views of Miho Bay and Mount Daisen, Kawajiri Misaki for fishing, Makidani with beach access, and free sites like Detateyama and Dosarubo Koen. Most sites operate seasonally from April to November, with some open year-round. Prices range from free to 4,000 yen per plot.
Times24 and Nakafurano town (Hokkaido) will operate the municipal parking lot as a paid facility from June 13 to August 23, 2026, using the mobile service Times Parking Caravan. The system includes cashless payment terminals and license plate recognition cameras, enabling temporary paid parking without on-site staff. Data on entry/exit times and visitor origins will be collected to support tourism planning.
Authorities in Ikeda, Gifu Prefecture, approved a renovation plan for the municipal Ikeda Onsen. The project includes updating buildings, creating a car sleeping area, a sauna resort, and accessible baths. Opening is scheduled for August 2027.
The municipal Iko Yama Campground (Ichikai, Tochigi Prefecture) will open on July 1, 2025, with the season running until November 30. Operating since 1993, the site offers scenic tent plots (3 units, 5,000 yen per night) and forest plots (6 units, 3,000 yen per night), plus covered barbecue areas. The Tokyo Campervan Show executive committee announced the third RV symposium on July 11, 2026, focusing on municipal adoption of campervans. For the first time, general participation will be selected by lottery, and the event will be live-streamed on the Japan RV Association's YouTube channel.
Daytona has launched two new camping products: the Maehiro Dome E solo tent and the Car Side Shelter. The tent, priced at ¥28,820 (approx. $200), features a large vestibule that can accommodate a Super Cub-class motorcycle, designed for touring campers. The shelter, at ¥22,000 (approx. $150), attaches to vehicles via suction cups without tools, providing a shaded area for day trips or car camping. Both items come in forest khaki color.
